Transfer Credit Limits

Policy Statement

The UMN (and likely the home institutions of non-UMN study abroad program participants) has limits on the number of transfer credits allowed for various aspects toward the institution’s degrees.

Note: The majority of study abroad programs offer resident credit.

Procedures

Students who already have a significant number of pass/fail or transfer credits, students who plan to graduate within a year of studying abroad, and students who want to count transfer credits toward their major or minor, all should discuss these issues with their college and major/minor advisers and include their comments on the Academic Planning for Study Abroad Form.
