Policy Statement
Courses taken abroad cannot be used to repeat (and bracket the grade of) a course previously taken on campus.
The content of a course taken abroad may duplicate the content of a course previously taken on campus to the extent that the student’s college advising office may decide to remove credit from one of the courses. This may also happen with a course for which the UMN has awarded a student transfer credit.
Procedures
Students should work with their academic advisers prior to departure to determine how courses taken abroad will fit into their academic degree progress and plans, and to ensure that no duplication of coursework occurs while the student is abroad.
