Learning Abroad Center

Academic Standing

Policy Statement

Students are expected to remain in good academic standing during the term prior to their study abroad experience. Students not in good academic standing may be disqualified from participation and will be held to the Learning Abroad Center cancellation policy. Students on Academic Warning may be allowed to study abroad, pending Learning Abroad Center consultation with the student's college advising office. Students on Academic Suspension may not participate in a learning abroad program.

Procedures

Students should notify the LAC as early as possible if there is a possibility that they will be on Academic Warning during their learning abroad experience. The LAC will consult with the student’s academic adviser to jointly determine whether the student will be allowed to participate, and under which parameters (if any), given the nature of the program under consideration.

This process may require temporary removal of the Academic Warning hold on registration by the student's college adviser and willingness to hold probationary advising meetings via email while the student is abroad.
