PFIC specifically emphasizes the importance of international collaboration on dissertation projects that involve international field research. Selected fellows will be expected to conduct their research and/or training under the supervision of a scholar in a country of their choice outside of the United States. This collaboration will provide valuable insights on the viability of the proposed dissertation project, and on its relevance, salience and reception in the region of study. PFIC will also provide fellows with a network of professional contacts in preparation for future dissertation field work, equally emphasizing regional knowledge and approaches, alongside the training provided by the fellow's home university and primary advisor.
