The James Harrison Steedman Memorial Fellowship in Architecture

Established in 1926, the James Harrison Steedman Fellowship in Architecture is one of the oldest and most prestigious awards in the U.S. The Steedman is granted biannually to an emerging architect to conduct research abroad. The successful candidate is awarded $75,000 for 6-12 months of travel outside the US to study a topic of proven relevance to the built environment, both globally and in St. Louis. The competition is open to architects worldwide who received a recognized degree in architecture within the last eight years.

The Steedman Fellowship is open to practicing architects anywhere in the world who have received a recognized degree in architecture within the last eight years. Fellows must be able to complete their proposed projects within 18 months of receiving the award.
