Funded by the U.S. Department of State, Program for the Study of Eastern Europe and The Independent States of the Former Soviet Union (Title VIII), the American Councils Combined Research and Language Training (CRLT) Program serves graduate students and scholars who, in addition to support for research in the independent states of the former Soviet Union, require supplemental language instruction. Programs are available in Belarus, Central Asia, Russia, the South Caucasus, Ukraine, and Moldova. Scholars may apply for support in more than one country during a single trip but must plan to be in the field for a total of three to nine months. Those scholars seeking support for research and/or language study in the countries of Southeast Europe should apply to the Title VIII Research and Language Training Programs for Southeast Europe. There is more information concerning the program available online at the website listed above.
