UMN International

    Join your fellow Gophers in January 2021 in Beijing, Copenhagen, Florence, or London. UMN International programs are opportunities for UMN students to live and study with other Gophers while taking both in-person courses and online UMN courses. You will live and study together through a program created especially for University of Minnesota undergraduate international students. 

    Program highlights:

    • Make friends with other Gophers
    • Take UMN courses with a group of UMN students
    • Work toward completing liberal education requirements
    • Take at least one in-person course with UMN and/or other US students for resident credit
    • Connect virtually with student groups, activities, and student services in Minnesota
    • Practice your English language skills with in-person classes

    Spring 2021 Program Options

    Asia

    UMN in Beijing

    UMN in Beijing will be based at Capital Normal University in Beijing. The program is managed by the UMN, and though students are considered full UMN students while on CNU's campus, they are expected to abide by all CNU campus rules and regulations. Enjoy specially planned excursions, engagement with the UMN China Office and alumni, and more. This program is open to students from Mainland China.

    We strongly encourage you to take the in-person course for UMN Resident Credit, FOST 3501: Comparative Studies in US and Chinese Film, taught by local faculty.

    Europe

    Take at least one in-person course at the local study center. Additional in-person courses are available. 1-3 of your courses will be online courses through the University of Minnesota. All courses will receive Resident Credit.

    UMN in Copenhagen

    UMN in Copenhagen is based at our Copenhagen study center supported by DIS Study Abroad in Scandinavia.

    Students will take at least one in-person course at the DIS Study Center and at least one online UMN course. Additional courses will be either a mix of in-person or online UMN courses or all online UMN courses. For the required in-person course, we strongly suggest that students take Danish Language and Culture: Level I. Enrollment in an additional in-person course is available if well-suited to a student's spring semester course load. Explore other in-person course offerings here.

    UMN in Florence

    UMN in Florence is based at our Florence study center supported by ACCENT Global Learning.

    Take at least one in-person course at the ACCENT Study Center and at least one online UMN course. Additional courses will be either a mix of in-person or online UMN courses or all online UMN courses. An Italian Language & Culture course is required for all students. Enrollment in an additional in-person course is available if well-suited to a student's spring semester course load. Explore other course options here.

    UMN in London

    UMN in London is based at our London study center supported by Centres for Academic Programmes Abroad (CAPA).

    Take at least one in-person course at the CAPA center and at least one online UMN course. Additional courses will be either a mix of in-person or online UMN courses or all online UMN courses.

    For the required in-person course, choose from one of the following:

    • Post War British Pop Culture
    • Analyzing and Exploring the Global city: London
