Irish Studies

Irish Life & Literature -- You will focus on Irish writers and traditional Irish culture such as folklore, music, and song, while also discussing the large social, political, and economic developments of the 19th & 20th centuries.

This class has been approved for UMN's Literature core. 

Sociological Perspectives on Irish Society -- Study how the economic boom known as the Celtic Tiger, followed by the global financial crisis in 2008 has impacted Irish society today.

This class has been approved for UMN's Social Science core. 

Screening Ireland: Ireland in Film & Television -- Examine how the notions of Ireland and Irishness have been portrayed in film, television, and documentaries.

This class has been approved for UMN's Arts & Humanities core.   

Creative Writing -- Identify and explore uselful strategies for short story writing, and compose your own piece of short fiction.

This class has been approved for UMN's Writing Intensive liberal education requirement and Literature core. 

Historical Perspectives of Justice in Ireland: Folk Devils, Fornicators, and Families -- Examine the historical context in which justice policy was developed, specific to punishment, the regulation of sexual behavior, and the evolution of family justice.

This class has been approved for UMN's Civic Life & Ethics theme and Historical Perspective core. 

Terrorism, Crime & Justice -- Learn about the Irish criminal justice system, theoretical perspectives on criminal justice, and an insight into trends and theories on terrorism.

This class has been approved for UMN's Civic Life & Ethics theme. 

Irish Myths & Legends -- Understand the importance of Irish myths & legends and how they are still prevalent in Ireland today, by reading well-known stories and children's literature, and looking at films and the media.

This class has been approved for UMN's Literature core. 

Modern Irish Theatre -- A survey of Irish theatre in the 20th century, with a focus on its relationship to Irish nationalism. Excursions to plays in Dublin and Galway are included.

Developing Self as a Healthcare Provider

Active Body, Active Mind - Physical Education & Sport Science -- Learn how psychological theories, concepts, and strategies can be applied to physical activity and exercise, and how that can have an impact on the individual.

Business Studies

International Financial Markets & Trading -- Use active learning on the Kemmy Business School trading floor to bring the course concepts to life.
