Collegiate & Departmental Program Cancellation Policy

Participants who wish to cancel must provide official notification in writing by mail or email. Include the reasons for cancellation from the program. Participants, not their home institution and/or power of attorney, are responsible for notification.

Notification should be sent to: Your program's leader or your department or college program contact.

Cancellation is effective from the date postmarked on the written notice, or, for email, the date received by the program leader. Participants will continue to accrue non-recoverable costs based on the chart below until official notification is received.

Participants are responsible for all program fees until notification is received by the program leader. Institutions paying on behalf of the participant are responsible for all program fees until official notice of cancellation by the student is received by the program leader. It is the student’s responsibility to also notify the institution paying their program fees of their cancellation from the program.

Refund Policy

The application fee, if applicable, and confirmation deposit for all Collegiate & Departmental programs are non-refundable.

The program leader guarantees space on the program for the participant upon receipt of the non-refundable confirmation deposit. At this point, the program incurs certain non-recoverable costs. Therefore, any participant who cancels at any time after the confirmation deposit has been received will be responsible for the program deposit in addition to the following minimum penalties, upon cancellation from the program:

30– 44 days before start of program 50% of full program fee
15– 29 days before start of program 75% of full program fee
14 days or less before start of program Full program fee

These penalties are the minimum amounts due. Participants will be held financially liable for all non-recoverable costs that exceed these amounts.

The information contained in this Cancellation and Refund Policy supersedes any verbal or other written information that participants may receive regarding this policy.

Appeal for Refund

Students participating in Collegiate & Departmental programs are not eligible for the Learning Abroad Center's Appeal for Refund process. The College or Department sponsoring the program is responsible for all refund appeals and you should check with them for further information before confirming your place on the program.
